New RESTORATIONS:  I just ordered fabric for the following restorations.  I will be proceeding with the work as my budget allows. My AS IS pricing is no longer active ONCE THE WORK STARTS.  I will run the numbers after I talk to the upholsterer, but I did score the fabric for an amazing price!  I work hard to get fabric cheap and keep my expenses low.  

This piece just needs covers for the existing cushions.  I think the work will be pretty reasonable. I picked this awesome palm print perfect for a Florida room or tiki lounge, just as this piece needs to be!  Estimated completed price $600-800.

I just picked this fabulous pair up last weekend. France and Son Danish teak arm chairs with a beautiful profile.  Design by Sigvard Bernadotte and sold by John Stuart Inc. All metal tags are present.  These will be getting a full rebuild. New strapping, foam and upholstery. I am buying both of the above colors and deciding when they get here.  If you love them, you can choose.  💕 These are high end Danish, collectible and sexy as hell.  Off the cuff, finished price will probably be $1500+/- for the pair.  One choice is more cream, the other is oatmeal.  I think they will both compliment the warm teak wood beautifully! 

Another view. Those swoopy arms though!  The wood is excellent and look at the joinery on the arms! Just need to ditch the upholstery and rebuild the structures.   

The main event! So you remember I came home with the Ry Mobler Wall unit and Murphy bed in September.  I quickly proved it was indeed a Hans Wegner design. 🤘🏼💕 Then decided we would keep it for my lucky son.  We finally got around to swapping his room out!  Step one: Trent disassembled his IKEA bed.

Step 3 lots of heavy lifting.  We disassembled the bed from the cabinet which made it a lot better to get up our flight of stairs in the foyer.  It’s a bilevel so tight for turns. 

We made Trent help! He did a fine job taking apart his old bed too.

I just assisted in a local estate clean out and took possession of a bedroom full of Heywood Wakefield plus a Broyhill Saga dining room.  This stuff all needs some refinishing work and I am not in the position to get that done.  These items are in the raw and I am selling wholesale so you can do the work and get in this stuff at rock bottom prices.  Sure, if you want to pay me to get it done I would gladly restore to order but I do not typically buy for wholesale and in this case, I can price things low because of my great buy!  These are moving fast so please reach out immediately if you are interested in something.  I also have on eBay at higher price.  I am doing local pickup only. If you are out of the area and want shipping I can arrange for you but I cannot pack.  I can deliver in my immediate region....BERKS, LEHIGH, LANCASTER, ETC.  Any further I wil tack on a nominal delivery fee.  Ok I guess that’s the terms so on to the goods!

Spring refresh, back to school and other thoughts on business.

Thanks for al the love I the last two weeks! I have been packing, shipping and delivering some great items! Spring is such a great time to spruce up your home. We just repainted our bathroom and I picked up an incredible shower curtain by Sin in Linen so set off the warm grey we chose.  More painting to come and hopefully some new flooring before I get to work on my couch restoration.  Here’s a peek at the bathroom.  Our home was built in 2004 with 70s era blueprints so we have new home luxuries with smaller rooms like an older home.  I do miss not having cool things like tiles and hardwood but as things are aging we can refresh with the details we love. 

We formerly had a light green tint wall, which over the years showed a lot of dirt and wear.  I choose the flooring with green so needed to work some green into the space and this shower curtain really brought it all together! 💕. Cannot wait for the next transformation!

I have been taking a Small Business class with a division of Kutztown University and am about half way through the session.  Learning how to take my business to the next level and our final project is presenting a Pitch to lenders.  I am not looking for a loan, but will be a good experience.  I am focusing my efforts into reaching a more regional audience of interior designers and Home stagers for other services besides just sales.  I am about 5 years into selling and although my numbers are fantastic, it really leaves little in my pocket and the goal was to replace a full time income which I am still very far from.  I do not feel it wise to go into debt at this point.  I have a great inventory I built up with little personal investment so I feel slow and steady wins the race.  I also feel  like my own area is not my market and I do hope that after spending time working that market and alternative revenue streams, I am pleasantly surprised by my findings. This business is very volatile.  Not only do trends change quickly, you are at the whim of big box knock offs and worse, the crappy economy.  Last year has given me PTSD as overall I did well but there were many successive months that I scraped by. The only pay I get is that this business pays my car payment and I had to reach into my pocket to do that last summer.  My pocket can not afford that payment.  😂. So this year, I am going to start going lean and keeping a stash in case that happens again. I will be picky about my buys from this point forward just because it is easy to just keep buying but when things stop selling it is a very stressful place to be.  Summer generally is the slow time.  Anyway, I plan to offer more custom services so reach out if I can assist in coordinating a restoration for you.  I have a few stunners ready for new upholstery now! There is something special about saving a piece and making it your own! The pride you will get of showing off the piece and talking about how you helped create it, that is priceless!

Riding the Wave.

A quick update on my current projects. After a week of working with my client on the Wave Lounge, the fabric is choosen and ordered.  I sent samples from F Schumacher to her and while she was impressed, she ultimately went with a Joybird selection.  I am thrilled to be able to order it for her and saved her an additional 10% off their normal sale pricing!  Yea for trade accounts!!! She picked a gorgeous golden yellow and I am so excited to see it in person!  Here is a preview.  

I am currently sanding down the legs for a refinish and hope they will be ready by the time the fabric gets here.  I expect this to be ready about a week after it gets to the upholsterer and then I can schedule delivery! I am sure you guys are as excited to see this transformation as we are!  Don’t forget that I have some great and highly collectible Craft Associates/Adrian Pearsall items coming.  They all need a redo and I would love to help you customize a restoration!  Message me and I will make sure I pick up what you want next! The seller is working with me on that! 

This awesome pair is claimable.  I will price as is with option to restore! If handling that scares you, no worries! I will take care of the dirty work for you! All you need to do is make the decisions!  

The end tables are sold and at their new home. Cocktail table is ready to deliver and listed in my shops.  The Havana chair and ottoman is claimable!  Such a great set!  What color would you choose?

There is also an awesome couch in this set that I have claimed as my own. That will be the last item I get from this Home and it will be customized for my own living room!  I look forward to that and may even do my own work.  Stay tuned!  

Another fun thing I was able to do in the last few weeks was work with a client and friend on some cushions for the Eames Fiberglass chairs. After discussing her goal of covering up the screw caps on the seats (because there was upholstery on the chairs originally but pulled off by the former owner who said they were not in repairable condition), I got my mom and dad in the mix to develop a comfy cushion that would do the job of covering the caps, be comfortable but stylish and my personal goal was to make them interactive so if you change up your decor or want another set of cushions, we can just whip them up.  The prototype was born! 

My dad had a few sheets of this plastic foam and it makes a great cushion and spill resistant! We decided on an envelope closure which makes the cover washable if it is fabric and totally interchangeable with another cushion!  I know my client loves to change things up in her home and figured this detail will come in handy whether she knows it yet or not! 😂🤘🏼 This is some fabric my mom had laying around.  It does look nice with the chairs but we pursued vinyl in all of it’s kid friendly glory! 

Who knew vinyl could be so colorful?  Although we could not get an exact match, the shade of the bottom left was closest. I support my local country fabric shop whenever I can! It’s on a farm about 5 miles from me and saves me a 1/2 hour drive to Joann’s.  Just always have to remember they are closed Sunday since they are owned by Mennonites!  

I spent the day sewing and got them all together. We are attaching them with Velcro tabs that will stick to the screw tops on the seat, easily removable later and replaceable if they fail.   

Of course the chairs are now SOLD and ready for delivery this week!  They are going to be perfect around the dining table with all new floor glides and their fab new cushions!

Don’t ever hesitate to reach out if you love something in my inventory and want to make it work for YOU!  My mom is a super talented seamstress and has her own little alterations side gig so I am in good hands! She has been overseeing my recent sewing projects as I polish up on my skills!  

As for my client....,well, let’s just say she is in the middle of a super kick ass kitchen renovation that includes the most spectacular St Charles kitchen cabinets ever!  I hope she will share her story with us here!  It’s a big project and she dove in head first!!!! I know you guys will want to hear about it!  I am going to clear out my mall space at the end of the month...what do you locals want to see next???? I will be taking out the dining set and all the holiday clearance items.  Stop over this weekend and take some things home!  50% off holiday, 20% off everything else, 10% off the dining set and the Danish casework.  Leave a comment of what you’d like to see on display!  I have the cane and wicker rocking chairs, the Yugoslavian set may fit.....so much good stuff to show off!!!!
