Making Waves-my latest restoration has begun.

I have been busy with some projects and just wrapped up the Yugoslavian lounge chairs. They are now ready for a new home!

A beautiful neutral that will go well with your colorful decor!  Great style that can fold away if needed.  These were designed to flat pack and dissassembly is simple!  Listing is live in my etsy shop, coming soon to Chairish.  Message me if you want to arrange delivery or need me to price some shipping options.

Next up is a wonderful piece that needs some love.  I had it listed AS IS with option for me to handle the restoration.  I am thrilled to have found a taker and I am doing the restoration work just for them!  I’ll take you through the process as well!

As found: wave lounge, perhaps Adrian Pearsall.  In need of new threads and some love.

Step one: THE QUOTE.

I got word Friday morning that I had an interest in this piece. I was able to get it to my upholsterer within hours to get his price for the work.  I was thrilled with his price and he will be replacing the foam and adding new strapping.  A total rebuild!

Not only am I in budget for my client, this piece will be under retail value in my markets!  A total win for my customer!

Step 2: NEW THREADS

First order of business is the fabric selection.  My client had some time to poke around Schumacher’s site and sent me a list of gorgeous velvets she liked.  I got samples ordered and they will be shipping directly to her to review.  If she chooses one of those, I will be placing the order for her. We also discussed Joybird fabrics and if she picks one of those, I would also order.  Because she is purchasing the piece from me, I am not  marking up any of the fabrics so she can get them at wholesale pricing.

Step 3: STRUCTURAL WORK

In 2 days, we are well under way.  While we have some time until the fabric gets here, we started tending to structural issues.  There was a bad repair to one of the legs and my husband helped to make that right.  It did not take a lot of time and he switched out a bolt for what the original had, removed some bracing that were added to the leg and wood filled the holes left behind.  Next, I will be sanding and refinishing the legs this week.  I would think we’d have about 2 weeks until the fabric gets here at this point and she will be all ready to go to the upholsterer.  He is generally pretty quick so my guess is a week or less turn around for him.  Then I get to deliver this beauty personally!  Stay tuned for more updates on the project as we move along!  I have more Adrian Pearsall pieces coming that I would love to restore to order! Each piece gets my full attention to details just like the items I do for my inventory.  All issues get tended to!  Thank you for trusting my with your projects!  💕

The bad repair.  They cut the leg shorter to accommodate that wood block.  But the bracing really made it awful.

The problem we had with the former repair was they slapped it together in a very visible location and added metal bracing to the leg.  Here is my husband working his magic to rework this bad repair.

The finished repair redo.  All under the scenes and back to the original hardware.  The block had to stay because of the shortened leg but it is now hidden under the dust cover.   All of the fabric items and dust cover will be new the next time you see this!  And I will be refinishing the legs this week.  They really need it!

Thanks for following!  I added quite a few new items to the etsy shop this week.  Stop by and check them out!  XO Malissa
